I am interested to know if your grandfather / great grandfather was my granmother’s brother ,
My grandmother was Myrtle James nee Cobbett ( mother Marietta Pistrucci) and she was the youngest of 7 (5 girls and 2 boys) Harry (Henry) went to BC and I think Walter did as well ?
My youngest daughter is a fine jewellery designer/ silversmith/ engraver and has done some portrait sculpture. She studied in Florence.
Funny how the skills all come round again.
Do let us know if you have details of our ancestry – my elder daughter is doing a family tree and there are a few holes!
    Best wishes
    Sue Lucas

    • Pistrucci says:

Hi Sue, I would love to share information with you but would prefer over email. You can email me at pistrucciartworks@gmail.com.
Yes, we are related–Henry Reginald Cobbett is my grandfather. -Do you have an Uncle Peter? Peter came to visit my grandfather when he went to practice medicine in Toronto. My mother knew him and thought he was Myrtles son. It is very exciting to find another pistrucci/cobbett artist that sculpts. Your daughter must be very talented! And it is intriguing her interest in portrait sculpture. I wonder how similiar her artwork is to mine? I am currently working in drawing portraits from life – Very challenging.
Yes it is funny how things come back generations later as my mother, my son and my brother are extremely artistic as well.
Anyway would love to hear from you and compare information. Cheers! Angela

    • Pistrucci says:

You may also want to read the book ‘Italian exiles in England’ if you have not done so already some very interesting information in regards to the Pistrucci family.
